A.- Requisition to ship for ship's stores from Bond.
No permit should be issued unless a ships
requisition is handed in with Form No.8 such ships requisition should be signed by master and/or counter-
signed by agenta.
B.-
It may be argued by certain wine merchants that
this would interfere with their retain sales. Two firm8 –
Ruttonjee & Son and Price & Co. have stated that they
have runners taking orders from ships. In such cases
order should be signed by Captain of Vessel.
There is no doubt that liquors for ship's stores
will be bought at Ports where no taxse are charged and
consequently cheaper than at Hongkong therefore purchases here for ship's atores will be limited and
preventive measures to safeguard abuses by Chinese
servants of vessel should be taken to check the shipment
of liquors as chipe stores which may be relanded
clandestinely and individually.
In Australia on arrival of a vessel an inventory ie
taken of all liquors on board for ships use and on the
departure of the vessel & stock is taken and whatever
has been consumed on board, and while in Harbour, pans
duty. Here ships stores are covered by the Ordinance
as free but a ships requisition should be demanded
duly signed by master of vessel as a preventive measure.
