Government House,

Hongkong, 21st. April, 1910.

As requested in Your Lordship's

Despatch No. 74 of the 15th. ultimo, I have the honour to

forward herewith a copy of Mr. G. W. Eves's Agreement.

2.

I decided that as Mr. Ives was

called upon to resign owing to dissatisfaction with his

work, his engagement could not be said to have been

"satisfactorily terminated" and he was not therefore

entitled to half salary on the voyage to England under

Clause 5 of the Agreement, but that he was entitled to a

free passage under Clause 11. Instructions were issued to

the Chief Resident Engineer to pay the passage but reached

him too late to make the arrangement as Mr. Eves had

already left the Colony.

RIGHT HONOURABLE

THE EARL OF CREVE,

80...

&c.

Suc

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient, humble servant,

Mugard

Governor,&c..
