30. Each Government shall provide such Railway
Police as in the opinion of the General Manager may be necessary
for preserving order and enforcing the law in and upon the
premises of, and in connection with the business of, its own
Section. The cost of such Railway Police shall be a charge to
Revenue Expenditure.
Bach Government in the exercise of its
sovereign powers shall be responsible for the protection of
that portion of the Railway which traverses its territories, and
in the event of any disturbance (other than a strike of Railway
Employees) affecting the trafic of the Railway the Government
concerned shall be responsible for all loss (including mails)
incurred by the Pallway as a whole, and for any clains by
individuals on account of hurt or damage, and for making good
any damage to the Way and Works, Rolling Stock, and Property,
and such loss or damage shall not constitute a charge to the
Revenue Expenditure or to the Capital Account, but shall be
defrayed from the net earnings of the Rection concerned
wholly
in respect of actual damage to Way and Works, Rolling Stock, and
Property, and in respect of claims by individuals or loss of
mails, but only to the extent of the share due to the other
Section in respect of compensation for loss of earnings.
