I therefore recommend that as from

the lst. of next June a ration allowance of $18 per annum

should be given to the Indian Guards and third class

Assistant Warders, and a retion allowance of $12 per annum

to the Indian Warders and Assistant Warders of the first

and second class: and I further recommend that a system of

good conduct badges, similar to that obtaining in the

Police Force, should be instituted in the Gaol, carrying

an allowance of 75 cents a month after two years good

service, $1.25 a month after five years good service, and

$1.75 a month after 8 years good service. The initial

expenditure involved is $813.75 and the maximum would not

I have the honour to be, My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

Mangarg

Governor, &c..
