I have the honour to forward for
Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of a letter
from the Registrar-Ceneral, dated the 26th. of last January
together with a minute by the Principal Land Surveyor,
dated the 19th. ultimo, and to recommend that the vacant
area of about 12,536 square feet shown on the attached plan
and valued at $4,564 should be granted to the Committee of
the Tung Wa Hospital, subject to a nominal Crown Rent of
$1.00 per annum for the purpose of erecting quarters for
the temporary accommodation of destitutes.

If Your Lordship agrees, I would

further recommend that the cost of shifting and re-erecting
the public latrine at an estimated cost of between $2,000
and $3,000 should be borne by this Government in view of
the heavy responsibility of which it is relieved by the
action of the Tung Wa Hospital authorities in taking
