were run in connection with the Railway. The Railway could then

take charge of their luggage at any rate and save this part of the inconvenience but unless a pier were built at Nathan Road

for the exclusive use of the Railway, it is not easy to see how

special ferries could be run without dislocating the ordinary

service in view of the fact that such special ferries would

have to wait for trains might might be running late to arrive &

further to lie along side the pier until all the passengers

and their luggage were got on board. It is in no way possible

to use the present pier and further no scheme can be got over

which would bring the train alongside the ferry in either of the

two schemes under review. That such a proceeding is feasible

in Schemes 3 & 4 will be shown later.

it remains not to consider the question of a siding to the

Wharf and Godown Company. That for Holt's is common to any

scheme that may be selected and it is now definitely settled

that the owners of Lots 74 and 75 do not require a siding.

Moreover they have stated that provided they get a clear forty

feet of roadway in front of these lots they will be satisfied. I presume this request is in accordance with the terms of their

lease, for the Railway Ordinance permits of the laying down of

a siding down Salisbury Road without restriction. The proposals

for the siding are four in number and are shown on Plan No.C.R.E.

509 sent with my report of 15.12.09 in red, blue, green and

yellow. The one in red is on a three hundred foot radius and

runs in an irresponsible way across Marine Lots 6, 5, 4, 3, etc

and crosses Salisbury Road directly opposite the Ferry.

The one

in blue is not much better, it crosses Salisbury Road ab a big skew and cute up the Godon on Marine Lot No.10. That in green

is only economical when considered with Scheme No.2 and apart

from its outting up the Police Camber it must upset the Godown's

lying to the Weat. The Wharf and Vodown Company have therefore

asked that the siding should enter at a point of about one

hundred
