(1).

It absorbs less land than Scheme

II and while it leaves available for use other than for

Railway purposes 540,500 Square Feet of land on the Re-

-clamation as against 575,000 under Scheme II, it releases

for such purposes 478,200 Square Feet on the Lots 1140,

1141, 442, 443 and 618 and on Crown Land at the Time Ball

as against 58,500 Square Feet under Scheme II.

(2).

The land which it releases on the

lots mentioned is situated close to the habitations of the

Chinese population in this part of Kowloon (called locally

Tsim-sha-tsui) on solid ground ready for building on. This

land should, therefore, command a good price for Chinese

shops or other purposes in the near future, if the Railway

induces the traffic that is expected of it.

(3).

It enables a train to be run down

to the ferry pier which would be a great advantage to

travellers; it provides room for ample pier accomodation

for future developments of the Ferry Service, and for

dealing with passengers and their luggage.

(4).

It enables the whole of the Rail-

-way Administration to be concentrated, with consequent

saving of time and expense and increased efficiency of

supervision.
