shall be hereafter fixed when proper surveys have been

made by officials appointed by the two Governments". It

would, however, be inopportune to take this matter up with

the Chinese Government until the Working Agreement for the

Kowloon-Canton Railway has been successfully negotiated, and

my chief object in drawing Your Lordship's attention to

these facts is to insure that this important matter may not

be overlooked and may be settled upon the first convenient

opportunity.
