Plea

Guilty.

W. W. Mc. Leod states:-

I was Day Orderly Officer on the 6th.- instant and visited the Inner Compound of the prison at 2.15 p.m. where prisoners were working. I saw Mr. Sinnott at his desk asleep with his head on his arms. I awoke him and then saw that he was drunk and quite incapable of performing his duties. The keys of the safe and prison were in his possession.

No question.

Defence.

C. W. Sinnott.

I have been in ill-health

for some time and on the 6th. instant I took stimulants to promote an appetite, and having been an abstainer for months it overcame me. It is the first time in all my service that I have ever been reported for being under the influence of drink and I trust that that will be taken into considera tion.
