Kingsclere, Prof 17 FEB 10J

Hongkong, December 23rd., 1909.

sir,

I have the honour to inform you that at a

meeting of the medical man of this Colony held this afternoon it was decided to tender to the Far Eastern Association of Tropical Medicine, at their Congress to be held in Manila in March, 1910, an inviation to hold their next Congress in this Colony sarly

in 1912.

The Hon. Dr. J. M. Atkinson was nominated as

President for the Congress in Hongkong and the hope was express- -ed that the Government of this Colony would not only be willing to extend to the meeting a most cordial welcome but would also

to the be able to see its way to contribute, in some measure, expenses by the provision of a vote in the Estimates for that

year.

I am informed by Dr. Preer, the President

of the Congress which meets in Manila next March, that the Colonial Government of the Philippine Islands have voted an appropriation of 4,000 pesos towards their expenses, but it is anticipated that the cost of holding a Congress in this Colony

will be considerably less than in Manila.

I have etc..

(sd.) Prancis Clark,

Secretary.

Ar-Henry May, K.C.M.G.,

Colonial Secretary.
