10. The onquiries relating to contributions
and their duration, and the pensions are subsequently
explained.
11. In the "Remarks" space, kindly in every
case specify the official position or occupation
which the member held on the 31/12/08, for example,
clerk in the office, Inspector of Nuisances, Head of
the Financial Department, Policeman, &c. &c. (I wish
hence to ascertain the occupations which are probably
more than usually hazardous to life).
12. A card should be completed in respect of
every person who has ever entered the fund since (as
far as possible) its origin, whether he remained a
member or not, or alive or not, on the 31/12/08.

Where a person has ceased to be a member
(having abandoned all interest in the fund) the only
questions requiring to be answered are the Number of
card, name, nationality, cause of Exit, and dates
of birth, entry and exit. (This information,
the racord of every Member, former and present, is
needed for the purpose of deducing the rate of mor-
tality experienced in the fund as a whole, a3 a basia
of the Valuation).

In all cases of members who possessed an
interest in the fund on the 31/12/08, the whole of
the card should be completed (except, of course, where
the required information does not in fact apply).
15. Datés. There in any instance the month of
the required date cannot possibly be ascertained, the
year itself must suffice, but care should be taken to
