In the meantime I most respectfully ing that I be allowed to be on half-pay until the question of further employment in Hong Kong is settled, and that the question of my contribution to the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Fund is charged accordingly. My grounds for this request are :-

1. The amount of pension granted is not sufficient to

support myself and wife, and it is impossible for me to seek any other employment until the reply is recuind prom Hong Kong.

2. That this is a

I have

mry exceptional case, worked might and main to improve the Panitary condition of Hong Kong since 1901, and left the Colony

3. That

my

leave was allowed to almost expire before

the slighkst idea was conveyed to me about the abolition of my office as Sanitary Surveyor..

24. I most humbly beg that my request be granted for at the time I left Hong Kong I was entitled to more than 12 months leave,
