14. One quarter's Receipts and Issues were camined
in respect of the following departmental stores with
satisfactory results:-
Police, Victoria Gaol, Sanitary, Medical. 15. The Hong Kong Volunteers Store Accounts were examined for the whole year. The Stationery Accounts in the Colonial Secretary's Office for the 1st quarter and the Public Works Department Stores for four months. 16. A test examination of articles in stores was made
of each, with satisfactory results.`
17. The main stock of stamps (Postage and Revenue) post-cards, newspaper wrappers, watermarked paper, Local and Imperial Postal Notes were examined and counted and found to agree with the various stock book
balances.
D. Surprise Surveys.
18. Surprise surveys were made of the following and the cash or stamps counted:-
Stamp Office, Assistant Land Officer, Money Order Office, General Post Office HongKong Magistracy and Harbour Master's Outstations.
E.Revenue refunded.
19. The total Revenue refunded during the year amoun- ted to $25,627.16, which principally consists of Refund of Rates. The same procedure has been followed as in previous years, viz:- the refunds are not deducted from the gross Revenue collected under Rates and Taxes, but are met by an annual estimate of Expenditure under "Miscellaneous Services".
