Peking, October 10, 1909. I AM telegraphically informed by His Majesty's consul-general at Canton that the dispute regarding the ownership of Pratas Island is now to be settled, the Chinese paying over a sum of 130,000 dollars as compensation.
The Viceroy's illness is all that prevents the immediate signature of the agreement.
