MANCHURIA.

Tokyo, July 5, 1909.

Nothing is known by Japanese Government of transfer to Tokyo of their nego- tiations with China in regard to Manchuria, as reported in Sir J. Jordan's telegram No. 114 of the 3rd instant. Chinese Government have up to the present merely presented a note on the Chientao jurisdiction question through their Minister here. It was understood by the Japanese Government that, on their replying to this note, the negotiations at Peking would be resumed.
