infringed the treaty, then the Chinese would be obliged

to "defend their hearths and homes" and prevent any inter-

course taking place.

The applause was universal. Heaars Kuan Tso

T'ion and Chan Shou Nung were then elected to proceed on

a lecturing tour into the interior. At the conclusion

these two gentlemen were requested to address the assembly

and were received with great sympathy and applause.

The meeting broke up at 4,30.
