Downing Street, April 7, 1909. I AM directed by the Earl of Crewe to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th ultimo, inclosing paraphrase of a telegram from His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokio respecting an inquiry which he has received from the Governor of Hong Kong as to the attitude of the Japanese Government in regard to Chinese sovereign rights over the Islands of Pratas.
2. Lord Crowe desires me to express his concurrence in the reply which it is proposed to send to Sir C. MacDonald.
