SECTION 1.
Sir Edward Grey to Sir J. Jordan.
(No. 80,) (Telegraphic.) P.
Foreign Office, May 1, 1909. ABOLITION of li-kin. See your despatch No. 18 of the 10th January last. I should be glad to be furnished with your views as to the appointment of a Delegate to the Commission proposed by the Chinese Government. The attitude of the Chinese in regard to the currency question appears to be now most unsatisfactory. The United States are, however, pressing us to appoint a Delegate to the Commission in question so as to encourage other Powers to acquiesce. They say that Russian and French Governments are disposed to view the matter favourably.
