More particularly would I here, in the name of the Imperial Government, beg to thank the Governor of Hong Kong most sincerely for his kindness in giving my Government at the present juncture an assurance, coupled with an expression of his hopes for the speedy and complete extinction of the agitation against Japanese goods, that he will continue to suppress with a strong hand any future recrudescence of illegal action in furtherance of that movement; and I have the honour accordingly to request that your Excellency will have the goodness to take the necessary steps to have this expression of thanks conveyed to his Excellency.
