to keep order. I requested him to begin by touring down all

the notices, to disperse the crowd, prevent it reassembling

and to arrest anybody who showed signs of aneroin 10-

tivity. This hu promised to do uni at once left the ship

to communicato with the Viceroy by telephone.

No rudcnoss of any kind was offered to us on our

way to the ship, the crowd in the streets appearing to be

very good-humoured.
