Sir Edward Grey to Sir C. MacDonald.
Foreign Office, January 14, 1909. I HAVE received your Excellency's despatch No. 315, Confidential, of the 3rd December, 1908, inclosing translation of a note from the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, to the effect that it has now been finally decided to adopt the opening and closing type of bridge over the Yalu River.
I desire to express my satisfaction at the result of your Excellency's representations to the Japanese Government on this question, and I request you to take an opportunity of informing Count Komura that His Majesty's Government have learnt the decision taken in the matter with much satisfaction.
