During the past week I have repeaboul;
dram Y.,'s attention to the serious agitation against
the British Authorities in connection with the recent
enquiry into the death of a Chinese passerer on tha
*Fatahan", which is being directed and uncouraged by the
Solf Government Society and the Chinees newspapers in
Canton.
My representations to Y.E. have evidently been
without result, for I hear that at a public mooting
organized by the Bolf Government Cociety yesterday,
libellous statements wore openly made against myself and
arrenamente made to boycott the stoners.
Such diecourteous treatment of the representative
of a friendly Power, she, only a few months ago, muve
public expression to his gympathy with the people of
