Paraphrase of Telegram from Sir J. Jordan, Peking to
Sir E. Grey, No. 14, dated January 8th, 1909.
Please refer to your telegram No. 5 of the 5th
instant regarding the Shanghai Opium Commission.
To-day I called at the Wai-wu Pu, asked what in-
structions the Chinese Commissioners were likely to
receive, and what questions were likely to be raised
and explained that His Majesty's Government desired
to know where they stood with regard to the approaching
