had a result identical with ours, the steamer "Fatshan"
is now boycotted.
I am impressing on the Wai-wu Pu the critical nature
of the situation.

Boycott of Steamship "Fatshan".
My telegram No.1 of the 2nd instant.
I have received a telegram from His Majesty's
Consul General at Canton stating that in consequence of
the issue by the "Self Government Society" of a circu-
lar deprecating the boycott and of a subsequent Vice-
regal proclamation in the same sense the vessel was
able this morning to leave Hong Kong with a full com-
plement of passengers on board.
