sir,

C.O.

-12182 RECO 453 REG & APR 09

London, S.W.,

7th April, 1909.

With reference to Colonial Office letter of

25.0

the 5th January 1904, No.46336/1903, and War Office

reply dated 23rd April 1904, Hong Kong 6/169, on the

subject of the transfer of Colonial Military Lands to the

Navy, I am commanded by the Army Council to acquaint

you, for the information of Lord Crewe, that it is

proposed to allow the Admiralty to have exclusive

occupation of a portion (shown verged blue on the annexed

plan) of the Arsenal Yard and the reclamation in front

thereof.

The Arsenal Yard, which is held by the War

Department as Colonial Military Land, has, for many years,

been utilized for the supply of Ordnance Stores to, and

making up of ammunition for, both branches of the

services, but, in order to facilitate accounting, it

is now deemed advisable that the Naval and Military

Ordnance Establishments should be kept separate.

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office.
