With reference to your letter No. 33795/1909

of the 21st of October transmitting a copy of a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of the

medical examination of Sergeant Foley of the ong Kong

Police Force, I have the honour to inform you that on the

22nd of October instructions were sent to Sergeant Poley

to attend for medical examination. No notice having

been taken of these instructions further communications

have been addressed to him instructing him to proceed for

medical examination without further delay. We have

pointed out to him that if he is not passed as physically fit to return to duty he would he required to repay the

amount of leave pay which he had received during his

present leave of absence.

2. As, however, we have received no reply to any

of our communications, I have to request the Secretary

of State's instructions in the matter.
