This

opinion is also endorsed by the Resolution of the Board who

desired to express their high opinion of his services during

his period of office. Mr. Lindsey is at tho present time on

furlough in England and he would he willing to accept the

appointment for a salary of €2.000 per annum commencing in

September. Should his services be required for a longer

period than one year from that date, it would be 79cessary

for him to obtain an extension o his furlough and he anticipates.

that he would have little difficulty in so doing.

If the above recommendations be approved we would

forthwith anter with Ur. Lindsey into the whole of the con-

structive questions to which he would have to direct his

attention and especially with retard to the girativo measures

to be adopted in the case of the Bridges which have failed.

We are, Gentlemen.

Your obedient Servants,

STR JOHN WOLPE BARRY & PARTNERS

The Crown Agents for the Colonies,

Whitehall Gardens,
