as follows:-

1.

With respect to charge I we find there was

an implied consent given by the complainants to Inspector

Knight to enter No. 40 East Street. With respect to No. 45

East Street we find as a fact that Inspector Knight was under

the impression that this house which is immediately opposite

to No. 40 East Street was also in the occupation of the con-

-plainants. This is practically a finding of not guilty on this

charge.

2.

With respect to charge II we find that this

charge is partially proved only. The complainant Wong Sam ran

out by the back door of No. 45 East Street from mere fright.

There is nothing to support the suggestion that it was due to

fear of personal violence.

3.

We find Inspector Knight not guilty with

respect to charge III.

4.

Inspector Knight pleaded guilty to charge

IV and stated that many Inspectors are in the habit of using case removing coolies for their private purposes. The Committee

are satisfied that this practice is common.
