complainant..No. 45 is not our house. I ran out by the back door
of No. 45 because the Inspector ran into the house and I became
afraid. Inspector Knight asked me and also my husband to allow
me to live with him. Inspector Knight asked this in his own
private house. Inspector Knight said to me. *You must stay
with me here tonight. I will not allow you to go away".
Inspector Knight asked me to come up and see him at 5.30 p.m.
I said to Inspector Knight "If you allow me to go away I will
come back at 5.30 p.m. I was in Inspector Knight's house for
about 2 hours. I went there because I was asked to go by
Inspector Knight. I put him off three or four times. I went once
to the Inspector's house when he was living at the back of the
Chung Hing Theatre. My friend Lu Ki lives at No. 45.
Cross-examined by Inspector Knight:-
Inspector Knight never asked me to get him
a girl that day. I never got a girl for the Inspector when he
lived at the back of the Chung Hing Theatre.
Grese-oxamined by Mr. Brewin:-
I never spoke to Inspector Knight except
when he came to cleanse the house: my husband came with me
when we visited Inspector Knight at his house at the back of
the Chung Hing Theatre.
Lui Fuk states:-
On that Sunday while I was at Inspector
Knight's house he asked me to allow my wife to live with him for 30 days. I said "I cannot allow this, because it is not the
custom of the Chinese".
Cross-examined by Inspector Knight:-
We arrived at Inspector Knight's house at a
little after 2 p.m. and left a little after 3 p.m. I quite understood Inspector Knight when he asked me to allow my wife to live with him for 30 days. My wife was a widow before I
married
