I desire to express my appreciation of the cordial
way in which you responded to my appeal for assistance from His
Majesty's Navy in the search for disabled junka and the relief
of their crews after the recent typhoon.
2. In particular I would wish to convey my thanks
to the officers and men of H.M.S."Cadmus", "Handy" and "Janus "
who left port in such inclement weather on three different
occasions, and were instrumental in saving four junks and
distributing rice and water to many others.
3. It would be presumptuous on my part to express
appreciation of the readiness at all times of His Majesty's
Navy to render all the assistance that lies in their power
when called upon, and I only venture to do so in this instance
since it was in response to an appeal from myself on behalf of
junks belonging to this Colony that the search was undertaken.
