gir,
In reply to yours of the 22nd. ultimo
vide Hon. Colonial Secretary, I beg to state that I proceeded to
Taipo as ordered on the 9th, ultimo and on my arrival I tested
all outstations and found them correct, on Sunday morning the
10th. I overhauled the Exchange Section and cleaned sane Re
the charge of intexication I beg to state that I had not been
drinking to the extent of becoming intoxicated but owing to
suffering from sleeplessness for some considerable time I had
resorted to drugs of which I must have taken an overdose, I
again failed to obtain sleep on the Sunday night and on the
Monday morning whilst in the Exchange I felt dizzy and from
then until I found myself in the Hospital and saw the Medical
Officer that same night, I have no recollection of what took
place, also I am still being treated for Insomnis. I trust that the above explanation and my past 34 years service during which
I have tried to serve the Government to the best of my ability
will meet with your consideration and approval.
I am ete.é,
(sd.) William George Jury,
Overseer.
