I have the honour to refer for

Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed correspondence

and to enquire whether in the opinion of the Consulting

Engineers the services of Mr. G. V. Eves as Chief Resident

Engineer merit the grant of a bonus, and, if so, what

bonus they recormend should be given.

2.

I have recently decided that

Officers of the Executive and Administrative Staff of the

Railway who have had no leave of absence while employed

in the Colony should receive a bonus equal to the salary

they would have drawn during the maximum amount of

vacation leave permissible under the Colonial Regulations;

and that subordinate employees serving under agreements

and engaged in England should receive bonuses representing

two-thirds of the full amounts calculated on the above
