RECR Roo9 27 OFC 09, With reference to the pension granted to

Mr. J. Dyer Ball, Interpreter of the Supreme Court, it struck

me on looking over the pension minute today that a possible

error was made.

506

See end of Clause 12 paragraph 2 of the

minute: it is rather obscure but I take it that Mr. Ball should

have had full allowance for the 8 months half pay leave taken

from 1.4.84 to 30.11.84.

His full service was 33 years 11 months

12 days, and he was away in all 4 years 6 months 19 days. His

full resident service was therefore 29 years 5 months and one-

-sixth thereof would be 4 years 10 months, which is greater than

the above full leave taken.

6

Allowing the 8 months therefore would give 4

montha more service than that allowed in the pension calculation and would bring his service with the 5 years added to 37 years. 37/60 of $4,080 equals $2,516 at 3/8 equals

8461 4

8.

This might be sent for revision by the

Seometary of State if desirable but I am almost sure that from

the rules the additional £12. A .8 is due to Mr. Ball.

(sd.) A. M. Thomson,

Treasurer.
