In reply to your letter of the 26th. ultimo,
I an directed to inform you that the second reading of the Bill to amend the Tramways Ordinance, 1902, will be postponed for three months to enable your clients to communicate with the Head Office and for the latter to make any representations they
may think proper to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, to whom His Excellency is submitting the Bill.
Since the Bill was published certain
amendments have been considered advisable and I enclose a print
of the Bill in its amended form.
The Bill is intended to cure defects in the
Ordinance so as to make the latter accord with the agreement arrived at between the Company and the Government in 1902, and
will be retrospective in its operation.
The Government has no present intention of introducing any further amendments of the Tramway Ordinance,
