I have the honour to acknowledge
the receipt of Your Lordship's Confidential Despatch of
the 4th. of June, enclosing copy of a letter from the War
Office on the subject of the Crown Rent of the private
property known as Spring Gardens (Inland Lot No. 427)
purchased by the War Department.
2.
In order to place Your Lordship in
possession of the whole of the correspondence between this
Government and the local Military Authorities, I now trans-
-mit copies of the letters, specified in the annexed
schedule, which have not previously been sent to you.
3.
I had hoped that the proposal made
in my Confidential Despatch of the 12th. of February would
have been accepted by the War Office, and I regret to find
that the Army Council demur to that arrangement.
