This lot was purchased by Mr. Li Ping on the 16th

September 1907. The whole of site was covered by water and the

purchaser was required under the conditions of sale to reclaim

the whole area of the lot and surrounding roads and spend a

sum of $3,000 in buildings on the lot within 2 years of date

of sale.

On the 11th April, 1908 Mesere. Denison, Ram & Gibbe

wrote in stating that on making soundings they found that the

sea wall in front of the lot would require to be over 50 feet

high, there being from 18 tỷ 20 rest of soft mud at the botton

also that the estimated cost of the sea wall was over $20,000

and that the lot when reclaimed would not worth half this sum.

They requested that the time for complying with the

reclaiming and building covenant might be extended until such

time as the Proposed Praya Wall across the Bay may be constructed

without payment of taxes.

being carried out in the vicinity for some years and recommend

that Mr. Li Ping be given another site of equal area in the
