from time to time in regard to reclamation in front of

their lots but negotiations were never pressed to a con-
-clusion. From claims received to date and other inform-
-ation to hand on the subject it would seem as if they
were prepared now to meet the Government in a reasonable
spirit.
A further report will be made on
this subject as soon as the legislation now before the
Legislative Council becomes law.
(h). Improvement of Tai Hang Village: 64,500.
In June, 1906, Mr. A. Shelton Hooper drew the attention
of the Sanitary Board to the insanitary state of the build-
-ings and land at Tai Hang: and in the following month the
Sanitary Board urged the Government to deal with the
matter. In December, 1907, the Director of Public Works
submitted a scheme for the improvement of this area and
estimated the total cost of the work at $26,877.50: at
the same time he recomended that in 1908 a section of the
work costing $7,500 should be carried out. It was in-
-possible to provide funds for this work in 1908 or 1909:
but, as I do not wish this work delayed any longer, I have
determined to carry out part of the scheme next year and
have therefore provided for the following iteris:-
