sir,

I have the honour to call attention to my letter to you of the 24th June, 1908 and to your reply of the 29th idem (7004/06) and to request that in view of the continuance of the low rate of exchange the question of my remuneration may be reconsidered.

Although the cost of the Crown Solicitor's Department was fixed at £1,000 in July 1905, I have during the last year and

a half been paid at an average rate of about £675 only, in spite of the fact that all the rest of the European Civil Servants of the Colony were granted compensation on a 2/- basis from the 1st

January 1907.

I would ask you therefore to submit this matter to His

Excellency the Governor in the hope that His Excellency may be induced to prevent the recurrence of this unjust discrimination

against me for 1910, and if possible to sanction a payment of

£250 additional during the current year in order to make up the

loss I shall otherwise be put to in respect of 1908 and 1909.

I have etc,

(sd) F.B.L. Bowley.

Crow Solicitor.
