At the request of Dr. J. C. Thom-
-gon,
Visiting Surgeon to the Tung Wah Hospital, I have
the honour to ask your permission for the relaxation of
Regulation No. 46 of the Regulations for His Majesty's
Colonial Service.
2.
Dr. Thomson will shortly retire
from the Colonial Service owing to the state of his health,
and in view of the approaching termination of his connect-
-tion with the above-named institution, which is supported
for charitable purposes by the Chinese of this Colony, the
Directors have expressed their desire to make a farewell
presentation to him as a token of their appreciation of
his services during the past 13 years.

I cordially recorriend to Your
Lordship that this rule be relaxed in the case of Dr.
Thorson for the valuable work he has done in connection
with
