My Lord,
I have the honour to acknowledge
receipt of your telegram of July 29th. I attach translated
copies of the previous telegrams and my replies for
facility of reference.

In the first of these (8th.
February, 1909) Your Lordship directed me to negotiate for
a Traffic Manager &c., direct with the Indian Government
and in consequence of a similar telegram from Your Lord-
-ship's Department, the Secretary of the Indian Railway
Board wrote to me under date of February 18th. quoting the
telegram referred to. The Colonial Secretary under my
instruction replied on April 15th. enclosing a Memorandum
from myself and definitely asking the Railway Board to
select an Officer for service under this Government. These
two Despatches formed enclosures to my Despatch of 8th.
May, 1909. On June 11th., I received a telegran from Your
