I recommend that Mr. Woodcock, acting

Deputy Registrar and Accountant, draw of the lapsing pay of the

Deputy Registrar and Appraiser so long as the present half-day

arrangement lasts. My grounds are as follows:-

(a). Mr. Melbourne cannot do more than of the work,

especially as he is sometimes detained at the

Magistracy. Mr. Woodcock is doing the greater

part of the other half. I have been doing some

of it but I find that I cannot continue to do so

and I have passed it to Mr. Woodcock. This will

probably necessitate his working overtime.

(b). When Mr. Woodcock is the only Deputy in the

office he often has to work at high pressure.

This seems almost equivalent to overtime.
