I have the honour to transmit for
Your Lordship's favourable consideration the enclosed copy
of a minute by the Registrar, Supreme Court, dated the 1st.
instant and to endorse his recommendation that Mr. G. A.
Woodwook, who is acting as Deputy Registrar and Accountant,
should be permitted to draw one-quarter of the lapsing
half-pay of Deputy Registrar and Appraiser.

Upon the promotion of Mr. J. R.
Wood from the Registry of the Supreme Court to the
Magistracy, which was approved in Your Lordship's Despatch
No. 88 of the 17th. of last May, it was found that no
Officer was available who could devote his whole time to
discharging the duties of Deputy Registrar and Appraiser.
I, therefore, arranged with the concurrence of the Chief
Justice that Mr. C. A. D. Melbourne, the Chief Clark at
the Magistracy, should discharge those duties in addition
