Government House, Hongkong, 3rd July, 1909.

My Lord,

I have the honour to inform you that General Senhor J. Machado, Portuguese Commissioner for the delimitation of Macao, accompanied by Senhor Cinatti and Captain Norton, arrived in this Colony on 23rd June and paid an official call upon me. I invited him to a large official dinner on 25th idem.

2. His Excellency Kao Erh Chien, the Chinese Commissioner, arrived on the evening of the 28th and called on me on the 29th ultimo, and I propose to have an official dinner in his honour on 9th instant.

3. The Commissioners hold their deliberations in Hongkong and I have offered them the use of the Legislative Council Chamber when not urgently required by Government.

4. His Excellency Kao expressed the view that the Commission was likely to be very protracted,
