Extract from the Acting Principal Civil Medical Officer's minute dated 14th June, 1909.

C.O.25377

RECO Res 4 AUG 09

"I would strongly urge upon His Excellency the advisability of appointing Dr. Macfarlane (Assistant Medical Officer of Health) to the post.

"He has been working at these special subjects (Bacteriology and Pathology) for some time past and has been most useful to us at Hospital. He is now doing special courses at home and on his return will be fully able to take over the duties.

"We know this Officer as steady, reliable and hardworking, and I am convinced he will do really good work.

"Suggestion might be sent home and Dr. Atkinson consulted on the subject."
