In confirmation of my telegram of the 10th ultimo, I regret to inform Your Lordship of the death of Dr. W. Hunter, Government Bacteriologist, which occurred at the Civil Hospital at 10.30 A.M. on the 9th.

Mrs. Hunter is not entitled to any pension or gratuity from the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Fund since her husband was not on the permanent Staff, and as I understand that she is in straitened circumstances I have remitted the probate duties amounting to $28 on the late Dr. Hunter's estate, and have authorized the payment of the funeral expenses, a sum of $161, out of Government funds.
