Supreme Court House,
Hongkong, March 11th, 1909.
I have the honour to address you with reference to my Crown Lease of Rural Building Lot No. 1.
This Lot, the first of the Rural Building Lots, was originally purchased by me in 1878 when there were practically no substantial buildings erected in the Hill District and when there were no permanent residents living at the Peak and upon the 4th May, 1888, a new Lease was granted as the Government wished to resume a piece of ground along the South side for the purpose of making a public road.
The property is held for a term of 75 years from the 30th September, 1878, and a large amount has been expended in building upon and improving the property and there are now standing upon the Lot the following six houses viz:- Mount Gough, The Ridge, Brockhurst, Burrington, Bleton and Kirkendoa.
The present owners of the Lot are:-
Section A. Henry Edward Pollock.
Section B. Subsection 1. F. B. L. Bowley.
Section B. Subsection 2. The Eastern Extension Australasia and China Telegraph Company, Limited.
Section B. Remaining Portion. Alfred Bryer.
Section C. Murray Stewart.
The Remaining Portion, myself, Henry Lardner Dennys.
In the year 1898 a new form of Lease was granted to then purchasers of land in the Colony and in this new Lease there was a provision that at the expiration of the first 75 years a further Lease should be granted upon the same terms and under and subject to the same reservations, covenants, provisoes and declarations as in the original Lease at such rent as should be impartially fixed by the Surveyor of His Majesty the King his Heirs,
