In April, 1908, Mr. Dennys had ap-

proached the Director of Public Works with the request that

on the expiry of his present lease, which is for a period

of 75 years, a renewal of it for a further period of 75

years might be granted. The Director of Public Works for-

-warded this application in the letter of which I enclose

a copy, and I directed the Director of Public Works to

reply that I was not empowered to grant a renewal of the

lease without reference to Your Lordship. In this connect-

-ion I enclose a reprint of correspondence between this

Government
