I have the honour to inform Your

Lordship that I have recently had under consideration the

question of the audit of the Expenditure Accounts of this

Colony.

My attention was drawn to the

matter by a small Committee, which I appointed in November

last to inquire into the expenditure of the various De-

-partments and to suggest what economies, without sacrifice

to efficiency, might be effected therein. I attach extract

from the Committee's Report.
