Lane, and took them into the lane to the hiding place for them, and left them there. I worked my beats until about 12.30 a.m., when I saw Jemadar Gulab, from Hollywood Road, standing under the Electric light at Gage Street. I walked down towards him, and he came up towards me. We met at the entrance to Tun Wo Lane. He spoke first, saying: How is it. Where are we to go? I said: Here, in Tun Wo Lane. I went in, and he followed, right to the end, where it turns into Lyndhurst Terrace. I went on ahead, and he was some distance behind. I purposely threw the light of my lamp on to the end of the lane, so as to make him believe I was looking to see if all was clear, but I really wished to know if the Sergeants were still there. I was afraid that they might have gone, seeing that it was long past the appointed time. When he got up to me I said: What do you want me to do? He did not answer, but put his left arm around my shoulder, and was apparently undoing the front of his trousers. I then put him off by saying that people would see us, and looked up at the windows in the lane. I then walked away a bit, and stood still. He then came to the other side of the lane, and stood in a doorway. He then whispered to me: Here, here. I then went to him. In doing so I noticed that the front of his trousers was open, and I saw his penis outside of the white drawers that he wore. I then said I must see his person first, and with that I took my lamp from my belt at my back, whilst he had meanwhile caught me by the arm with his left arm, and had his right hand pulling aside his drawers and trousers with his right hand. I saw it through the light of the lamp on to his person and hanging out in front. I was putting back my lamp, he trying to get me into the doorway. Then the Sergeants jumped up and took us both to the Central Station.
Taken by me on the 19th January.
P.S. Jemadar Gulab told me when walking on the Kennedy Road on the 18th instant he told me that a number of Chinese Constables had been willing to let him have to do with them, and that he had,
