Paragraph 10:-
The negotiations have been completed now for an extension of time on the reclamation Contract and broadly speaking the conditions are as follows. The Government has given an extension of time of twelve months on Contract 29 for the reclamation, also extra works at rates which will give a profit of about $60,000 have been granted while the Contractors are submitting to the penalty being trebled for delay in completion after the twelve months' extension and also a penalty for the non-completion of certain areas of the reclamation which are to be handed over by 1st January, 1910, and for the non-completion of the extra works such as Bridges 2 and 3 and Yau-mati Station which are to be completed by 31st December, 1909, and 31st March, 1910, respectively. Facilities are to be given for running trains through after 1st January, 1910.
